Lids, please

Mrs. Murray's class is collecting lids. Please save and clean your lids from jam, peanut butter, salsa, etc. and send them in with your child. They will be making something really cool...

Cinderella at Turnage Theater Dec 8

Please send $10 for your child to attend the play, Cinderella, at the Turnage Theater on Wednesday, December 8. I know it's early, but the teachers need to buy the tickets in advance. I'll ask for volunteers to drive and give more info sometime in November.

Thanks,
Dori

10th year celebration Nov 13 -- drinks, please

The 10th year anniversary celebration of the school has been planned for Saturday, November 13 from 12 - 3.

The 6 - 9 classes have been asked to bring cans of soda or juice boxes/pouches (Capri Sun, etc). If each child could bring a 10-pack or a 12-pack that would be appreciated and we'll be able to reach our goal of 250 beverages/class.

If it's easier for you to send in $2 - 5 in an envelope marked "10th year anniversary" I'd be happy to do the shopping. I'll ask the teachers to pass the envelopes on to me -- you can send in your money any time if you choose this option.

If you choose to drop off drinks you may do so the week of Nov. 8 - 12, and the teachers will graciously store them in their office.

Thank you so much for your help!

Sincerely,
Dori St. Amant

Volunteer Hours

Remember to log your volunteer hours! As you know each family needs to contribute at least 20 hours of volunteer hours a year, and many of our families contribute much more. If you forget to record something that day simply write it down in the office later. Sharon Main has a volunteer log in the office, and one of our parents, Ginger Gardiner records those hours. Having accurate records of volunteer time helps the school when writing various grants, so please don't be modest and stop recording after you reach your 20 hours!

Attending Community Meetings, volunteering for Red Plate day, attending field trips, volunteering for Kids' Fest are all great ways to fulfill your volunteer hours. If you don't have enough hours and need ideas please feel free to contact me, and I'd be happy to help you think of ways to volunteer that fit with your schedule and interests!

Best,
Dori St. Amant

Field Trip: Friday, Oct. 8 at 7:15 am

Don't forget the field trip is next Friday, Oct. 8! Remember to have your child at school by 7:15 for a 7:30 departure. Parents meeting the group at the planetarium should arrive by 10am and may purchase tickets there.

Don't forget to pack some snacks and a bottle of water for your child. Your child may bring a totebag with books, paper, puzzles, crayons, etc. Electronic devices are NOT permitted. If you send a cell phone it must be labeled and turned in to the teacher. Students are to wear their uniforms.

Thank you for turning in your $35 (includes 2 shows, the bus, and lunch) and permission slips in a timely manner! If anyone has not yet given the teachers their forms and money (cash please) thank you for doing so as soon as possible! Also please see the teachers if you have questions about room on the bus or any other issues related to the field trip.

Have a Wonderful Summer

An official note from probably the worst blogger in history...last post being in January!!! What an awesome year! I can't believe it is summer and school is out! Just want to say thank you to Mrs. Murray and Ms. Tracy for being such great teachers and for all of their love and dedication to our children. I know that my child was in good hands every day that he was with you. We are "moving up" to 4th grade next year, and I have mixed emotions. It makes me sad to be leaving the comfort of our classroom, but excited for the new opportunities and challenges.

Mrs. Murray will need a room mom and as my last unofficial act, I want to send a word out in the only way I can to all that will be in her classroom next year. I have been co-room mom and room mom for 3 years. Don't be afraid to volunteer for this, unsure of the time involved. It is whatever you want it to be. It is, for the most part, staying in contact with the teachers (which you probably do anyway) and helping with scheduled activities. You can plan "extras" with the kids, time in the classroom (Red Plate Day...see right side of this page), field trips (but I did not even go on all of the trips last year), basically, whatever your time allows. Coordinating with other parents as well, because there are always others that want to help, but may not know how, or who to contact. Search your heart (and your schedule), you will never regret the time invested...and you will most likely fulfill all of your volunteer hours in your child's classroom! BONUS! Have a great summer, and if you are interested in being room mom and have questions, feel free to email me. I will keep my email posted for the next room mom to remove/replace with their own!

Class News!

Our class will be making a "spa basket" for the auction. Please send in money (any amount is appreciated) or an item you think would go well in the basket. We need these items soon, so we will have time to label everything and put it all together by the auction (February 20). Last year, I made some "mini spa" packages for my women's group at church and found most of the items at the DOLLAR STORE! Manicure sets, pedicure sets, bubble bath, lotions, shower gel, fingernail polish and remover, cotton balls, candles...just a few ideas!

KFC hot lunch is Wednesday, January 27. Money due by Tuesday(tomorrow)at 12pm.

We are out early (12pm) on Friday, January 29 for a Teacher Workday/Make up day.

!!!!THANK YOU!!!! Gay Holton for volunteering for Red Plate Day for the month of February. Mrs. Murray and Ms. Tracy appreciate you SO MUCH!
Anyone interested in volunteering, let me know! (See right side of page for details on Red Plate Day!)

Thanks again!
